Our family loves to visit the state parks in Kentucky, we are blessed to live in a state with so many gorgeous state parks that are well cared for and have lodging so we can stay and enjoy them.  Last week we went away for a few days to Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, which is in Western Kentucky, on the Kentucky Lake and very near the Land Between the Kentucky Dam Village State Resort ParkLakes.  It is a beautiful area full of woods, water and wildlife.  The state park hosts activities for young and old on a regular basis, so we had that entertainment if the kids got squirrely.  And it was a great area for boating and fishing.  We didn’t do any boating on this trip, but perhaps when the kids are a bit older.  The state park had a lodge, cottages and a camping area…something for everyone!  We stayed in a cottage because I like to be able to cook our own meals instead of eating out the entire time.  Although we end up eating a meal or two at the lodge whenever we go to the state parks because they always have great restaurants.  On our trip to Kentucky Dam Village we explored the area a bit and did a fair amount of hiking and some swimming in the lake, but most importantly, we spent time relaxing and just being together.  it was so nice to leave technology and to-do lists behind for a few days.

I feel like I should also mention that Max loved being able to say the “D” word all weekend.  He pronounced the park as “Kentucky DAM Village” with a special inflection for the word dam.
