I want to thank each and every one of you that took part in the first portion of the myNKY campaign by taking polls, voicing your thoughts on what Printyou want YOUR Northern Kentucky to be, and answering challenge questions.  With over 11,000 people responding over these past six months, there’s certainly a good amount of data for the committee to use now to start the second phase, which will include strategic planning.  I loved sharing my opinions in the polls and challenge questions, and I hope you did too.  I also love that myNKY is all about this being a community driven campaign.  I think it’s a great idea to take a community approach to bettering our region!   I even got my children involved and made them think about what they wanted in their NKY.

I wonder if Henry’s two cents will be considered in the strategic planning:

MyNKY Lightsabers

He probably shouldn’t get his hopes up, thankfully he has adults to speak on his behalf about what we would like to see in our future Northern Kentucky.  MyNKY covered everything from education to jobs to parks and more with their challenge questions and polls. I personally cannot wait to see what happens once the strategic planning gets underway.  What great changes are we going to see in our community?!  The possibilities are endless, and as a lifetime NKY resident, I’m completely invested and committed to doing my part to make my community even better than it already is.

Here’s some more information about the next phase of the myNKY Campaign:Ella MyNKY

The myNKY community visioning outreach effort has selected the members of a leadership team that will help to create and lead the plan for the future of Northern Kentucky.

The 27 team members represent a variety of generations, geographies, organizations, industries, and beliefs to ensure the next vision for Northern Kentucky is as representative of the population’s wants and needs as possible. The team will be co-led by Sharmili Reddy, a senior planner with the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission and Geoff Mearns, President of Northern Kentucky University.

The members will be empowered to work with the community—both individuals and partner organizations—to craft the next strategic plan for Northern Kentucky. Over the course of the upcoming months the team will develop a partner-led working groups structure designed to ensure local expertise is properly tapped throughout the data gathering and idea generation phase of the community planning process.
