Chicago Vacation :: For Spring Break 2014 we took the kids to Chicago for three nights and four days.  We crammed as much fun as we could into those four days and had adventures all over the Windy City.  I’m going to share our adventures with you in a series of installments so you can see pictures from our excursions and maybe find some inspiration for planning your own trip to Chicago!

Navy Pier ::

Navy PierIf you’ve read my post about Ella & Michael’s trip to the Art Institute in Chicago you already know that we split up for one of our days on vacation.  While Ella and Michael took in the masterpieces the boys and I headed out for a day of fun at Navy Pier and the Lincoln Park Zoo.  We spent about a half a day at Navy Pier, but we could have easily spent the entire day there because there’s just so much to do!   There are restaurants galore, a Children’s Museum, a Stained Glass Window Museum (which is now closed),  a Conservatory, a Movie Theater, Amusement Park Rides, Sightseeing Boat Tours, Shopping and MORE.  I was in awe of just how many attractions and venues they had packed into one location!  From the outside of Navy Pier you can’t tell just how huge it is.  Once you enter and start walking around though it seems as if the pier is never-ending.  We wandered around for a while taking in the sights and snacking at some of the restaurants.  The boys loved the Conservatory and the crazy fountains that spray over the walk-ways.  My favorite part was the Stained Glass Window Museum (which is another post because of how many pictures I took).  Next time we go to Chicago I definitely plan to allow for more time at Navy Pier.
