The Cincinnati Preservation Association’s 2017 Spring House Tour is coming up very soon!  My dad and I have attended this tour for several years now and we always have a memorable time. Even the years that it has rained we still enjoyed our tour.  Every year the Preservation Association spotlights a different Cincinnati neighborhood and gives a  peek inside some of the most beautiful homes in our area.

Each year I enjoy the lessons on our local architectural gems, and I always come home with home improvement or decorating ideas.  This is truly one of my favorite Spring traditions, and I encourage you to put it on your calendar as well!  The timing is perfect, because the tour is on Mother’s Day weekend, so this is a treat for me!

Celebrate Wyoming Historic Village District’s 30th Anniversary With a Spring House Tour!

What: Cincinnati Preservation Association Spring House Tour 2017

Who: Cincinnati Preservation Association and the Wyoming Historical Society

When: Saturday, May 13th from 1-5 pm

Where: Wyoming Historic Village District

Lead Tour Sponsor: Cincinnati Historic Homes powered by the Sanregret Team

Cincinnati Preservation Association (CPA) and the Wyoming Historical Society (WHS) with lead tour sponsor Cincinnati Historic Homes powered by the Sanregret Team invite you to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Historic Village district by touring five amazing homes and two historic churches.  The very walkable village is notable for its number of preserved historic structures, but unique in the wide variety of styles of architecture represented throughout.  The 300-building-district is located in the heart of Wyoming’s village area and is described by the Ohio Historic Preservation Office as “a one-of-a-kind community with an extremely impressive array of architecture.”

This tour highlights this architectural variety by featuring five homes ranging from an Italianate beauty built in 1865 to a charming bungalow constructed circa 1925.  Featured on the tour is the Palmer-Stearns House, a High Italianate mansion atop a rolling 1.6-acre estate.  One of the oldest and most historically important homes in the village, the 7,000-square-foot mansion has been beautifully restored and is a must-see.  Two churches—one Victorian Gothic, one Mid-Century Modern– round out the tour and will give visitors a sense of the community and breadth of architectural styles.  Tour attendees will enjoy wandering the tree-lined lanes in this truly walkable community.

Will call for the tour will be at the Wyoming Civic Center.  Parking will be available at the Civic Center, the Wyoming Middle School, and along the street throughout the district.

Tickets: Advanced purchase is recommended.  Cost is $30 for CPA and WHS members and $35 for nonmembers if purchased in advance, $40 for all day of tour.  Purchase tickets by calling 513-721-4506 or online at www.cincinnatipreservation.org.  Cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard are welcome.

Disclaimer:  In exchange for promoting this event I was given two complimentary tickets to enjoy the tour.  The opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own.
