We wanted to get away for Spring Break this year, but could not do more than a few days, so I had to find something pretty close to home for a quick trip. Brown County, Indiana was a perfect place for a weekend getaway. There are so many things to do in Brown County Indiana, and we had a fabulous mini-vacation, but there was one major complaint. We did not spend enough time there! Everyone on the trip agreed, we needed more than two days to explore this area. It is certainly an area that I would not mind buying a house in! Some close family friends moved there a few years ago but needed to move as there was an issue with the house that had not been noticed before, luckily there are companies such as BenBuysIndyHouses that claim “we buy houses Indiana” so they were able to get the help that they needed to move into their new amazing Indiana home.

Anyway, we spent our time on this trip relaxing, reading, playing games, shopping, exploring and eating great food. This certainly will not be our last trip to Brown County because even though it felt like we did a lot of things in a few days I feel like there is still much to do and see in this lovely area of Indiana.

Here is a rundown of how we turned a quick trip to Brown County into an epic weekend!

A Quick Trip to Brown County, Indiana

LODGING:

I used Hills O’ Brown Vacation Rentals to find the perfect cabin for our family. We were travelling with Michael’s parents, so I needed to find a spot to sleep eight people, and Hills O’ Brown had plenty of options for us to choose from. I sometimes find it hard to find good lodging for our big family, but Hills O’Brown made it easy to find just what we needed. We stayed at the 100 Acre Wood cabin and it was AWESOME! The cabin was huge and offered a game room, a hot tub and plenty of space for eight people to relax and have fun. The best thing was that this cabin was so big that you could find a quiet spot anywhere. It was amazing how peaceful and quiet it was with four kids and four adults staying there! And while we woke up to snow one morning (in APRIL!), the boys also spent some time in the hot tub.

WANDERING AROUND DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE INDIANA:

We spent a day walking through the charming downtown of Nashville and did a little shopping, a little geocaching, and a few of us even had a little foot wash. This town is totally walk-able and I imagine it is hopping during summer and fall months! We happened to be here on a cold Monday just after most Spring Breaks had ended, so we had the town almost to ourselves, which was a treat.

LUNCH AT BIG WOODS PIZZA COMPANY

After walking around Nashville and exploring the nooks and crannies we were ready for some lunch! We stopped by the Big Woods Pizza Company for a hearty meal and craft brews.

BROWN COUNTY STATE PARK

We did not allow for enough time to properly explore the Brown County State Park but we did take a drive through to check it out. The next time we go to Brown County we will try to go when the weather is better and we have time to do some hiking, biking and kayaking! Michael and the kids did have a little adventure climbing the old fire tower at the park. The park was huge and had a lodge, cabins, and more campsites than I could count.

There’s our trip to Brown County Indiana in a nutshell. What are your favorite things to do in Brown County?
