The Enchanted ForestWhile visiting Tammy York, who wrote one of my favorite books (60 Hikes with 60 Miles of Cincinnati) I learned about the game Enchanted Forest.  She told me how much her family loves this game, and it seemed very cool.  I happened to find it while Christmas shopping at King Arthur’s Court Toys and picked it up for Ella.  We played it last weekend and loved it!  It’s a game of memory, but a bit more complex.  I’m not sure I could properly tell you the hows & whys of the game, but I highly recommend it for your children over the age of 6, especially those that could use some practice with memory activities.  The game is based upon everyone’s favorite fairy tales (plus a few we were not familiar with…we want to read those now!).  I am looking forward to playing this again and again with her and the boys as they get a bit older.  You can find this, and all of our other favorite games in The Little Things Amazon Store (click here).

The Enchanted Forest CardsThe Enchanted Forest product description from Amazon.com:

A Magical Treasure Hunt in the Land of Fairy Tales. Let’s Play! To set up the game, snap one treasure into the bottom of each tree and place the trees where indicated on the game board. Choose your playing piece and place in near the village on the game board, which serves as the starting area. The king’s castle reveals the treasures you must search for throughout the forest. Roll the die to determine the distance you move, making your ways to the trees to see what treasures are hidden under them. When you reach a tree, you can look under it, making sure the other players don’t see what you’ve found. Once you’ve found the treasure the king has requested, make your way to the castle so that you can announce where it is. If you’re right, you continue on your journey for the next treasure. If you’re wrong, you must go all the way back to the village and start over. The first player to correctly announce the location of three treasures wins!
