Most of you know that I have another side job besides blogging, but for those who have not heard, I wanted to tell you that I also create & sell note cards and invitations. You can find my creations in the Cards by Katie Etsy Shop.
Here are the reasons I love my job as Card Maker:
1. I can work in my pajamas
2. It’s not a 9-5 job, I can work on it here and there, when babes are sleeping or otherwise occupied
3. While I toil away on my cards at the dining room table I often have one or more of my children working alongside of me on their own creations and projects (or just hanging out in their bouncie seat — see above)
4. I adore snail mail and want to re-popularize the notion of sending people letters in the mail!
5. This little bit of extra money I make from this job goes to support my scrapbooking addiction, as well as provide fun for the family (going to the movie theater, weekend trips, baseball games, dinners out & more!)
So see, card making is a pretty cool job! I actually think that it’s the best job that you can ever have. Most of us who have jobs dislike the 9-5 routine that you have to take part in five days out of your week. It can become tiring and tedious. And if you have a young family, you are spending valuable time away from them. Time that can be hard to get back.
Of course, having a paying job is great when you are younger and you’re just starting out on your career. It gives you the perfect opportunity to gain experience that can be hard to get in other places, and these skills can be transferred into your daily life.
