We went to our very first cookout of the season tonight. It was lovely. The sun was shining, the kids were running, the beer was cold, and the food was delicious…perfection! I offered to bring dessert, and decided to bring something that was fun for everyone to make and to eat… Fruit Pizza Cookies. This tasty treat would be a perfect addition to any cookout you are attending this year, actually it’s perfect for any gathering with kids, because they love making their own tasty treat (and it’s super easy to put together). I used to make these Fruit Pizza Cookies in my classroom on occasion when I taught preschool. I love making Fruit Pizza Cookies with kids because it gets them excited about fruit. Here’s how to make them…
How to Make Fruit Pizza Cookies:
First, gather your ingredients: Cookies, icing, and a variety of fruit (I bought cookies for this party because I wanted to take the easy route, but you can always make your own sugar cookies to decorate).
Cut up the fruit into small pieces:
Let the kids ice the cookies (great fine motor activity!):
Then decorate your cookie with fruit pieces:
Admire your work (Ella made a “Sam” cookie – with strawberry red hair):
Max only likes pineapples….
The Final Step: Chow Down!
