Whole Foods Market Meal Plan Challenge :: The Menu Plan & Totals
by The Little Things Mama on Nov 19, 2012 • 2:14 pm 3 CommentsIf you’ve been following along on the blog you know that I was chosen to take part in a Meal Plan Challenge for Whole Foods Market. I had $200 to spend on my family’s meals for one week, and then I got to to blog about it (see links below) to share my adventures. I will also have a $100 gift card to Whole Foods Market to give to one lucky reader, so stay tuned! That giveaway will start in the next week or so!
TOTALS: Grocery Shopping Trip: $184.37 – $3.50 in coupons = $180.87
Pizzas for dinner on Tuesday (+side dish) = $17.00
TOTAL Spent: $197.87
So you CAN feed a family of six at Whole Foods Market with $200 a week. That being said, I think I might have been able to spend even less if I were better about coupons. I also could have saved money on veggies by buying more frozen and less fresh. So there are more corners that can be cut at the grocery, it just depends where you want to cut them. I love looking for deals, but sometimes I would rather spend a little bit more money and get a better quality product. And the Whole Foods Market “365” brand was a great help for shopping on a budget with their reasonable prices!
Here’s the Menu:
Dinners:
1. Salmon Burgers, Roasted Asparagus, and Pears
3. Black Bean & Rice Burritos, Salad and Bananas
4. Korean Beef with Rice, Edamame & Pot Stickers
5. Spaghetti & Marinara with Seeduction Bread (from WF bakery) and Salad & fruit
6. Red Beans & Rice, Roasted Broccoli and Fruit
7. Grilled Cheese and Beef & Barley Soup with Salad
** I did not get pix from every meal because dinner time is always just a tad bit crazy around here!
Extras: I bought oats & almonds to make granola, and Kefir, because the kids love it.
