Last week I made the Flank Steak with Red Wine Pan Sauce from the Kentucky Fresh Cookbook and it was so delicious.** I doubled the recipe and had extra steak, so I decided to use the extra steak to make a pizza (our new favorite dinner menu item).
I got it into my head that I must have a Philly Cheesesteak Pizza. And so that’s what I made. It was my favorite pizza that I’ve made so far (you can see my other favorite pizza recipes here). I highly recommend that you try this recipe at home!
Philly Cheesesteak Pizza:
The Ingredients:
Preheat your stone in a 450° oven and roll out your dough.
Take the hot stone out of the oven and sprinkle some cornmeal over it. Slide the dough on to the stone.
For the base I mixed the garlic, a tsp. each of oregano and basil and a few Tbs. of olive oil in a bowl, then spread a light layer of this over the dough.
Then I topped that with steak, peppers and onions:
After the meat & veggies I sprinkled on the mozz & provolone and put some jalapenos (or banana peppers) on top and stuck it in the oven.
I baked it for about 15 minutes or so, just keep an eye on it while it cooks. Here’s what my masterpiece looked like when I took it out of the oven:
Then it’s ready to slice and eat!
What’s your favorite kind of pizza pie?
