I have found a great brussels sprouts recipe to make at home that takes no time to prepare and tastes delicious.
Roasted Brussels Sprouts
I really should have entitled this post…”How I came to love Brussels Sprouts”. I was at Wunderbar in Covington years ago and my friend Nicole gave me a taste of her sprouts, and oh my! These Brussels Sprouts tasted sooo good! At Wunderbar they sauté the sprouts until they are just perfectly tender and tasty. I eat the sprouts every single time we are at Wunderbar. If they are out of stock of sprouts then tears are shed. The sprouts pair perfectly with any dish on their menu. Our family usually splits several sausages and pierogis with brussels sprouts on the side. So if you are near the Northern Kentucky area try the sprouts at Wunderbar, otherwise, here’s a way to make them at home!
I love these so much that I just had to find a way to make scrumptious sprouts at home, and it ended up being quite simple. I googled “best roasted brussels sprouts” and came up with this recipe from Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa. All I needed then was some sprouts, olive oil and my trusty jar of kosher salt. It’s all about the HEAT and the SALT! Roast those sprouts until the leaves are crispy and the center is tender! Yum!
Full disclosure, my home cooked sprouts are inferior to Wunderbar’s, but they do make a nice side dish for almost any meal. And I cook them so often that I have even convinced a few of my kids to try them.
