Earlier this summer we had a lovely weekend away without our munchkins. We stayed a family cabin and pretty much just relaxed all weekend long. There were late night games of Ticket to Ride, lots of reading on the porch, a canoe trip, and some napping. It was idyllic. We did venture away from the cabin one evening to enjoy a dinner at Knotty Pine on the Bayou. Knotty Pine on the Bayou sits high above the Licking River in Cold Spring, KY and is known around Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky for their top-notch Cajun cuisine. We feasted like kings & queens on some delicious dishes and had a few adult beverages to wash it all down. The portions were huge, and the food lived up to it’s reputation, we left full and happy! Below are some pictures from our dining experience so you can see how tasty our food looks, from the Gator appetizer to the delectable main dishes.

Knotty Pine offers indoor AND outdoor dining. Their deck has a gorgeous view of the Licking River:
When Mama is away from the children for a weekend she drinks Voodoo Punch:
Gator! This isn’t a full plate because we dived in and started eating before I could snap the picture:
Knotty Pine has a great selection of adult beverages, including many from Louisiana based Abita beers (ps..these aren’t all mine, I just put everyone’s together for a picture!):
I ordered the Cajun Sampler…it had a little bit of everything: beans and rice, gumbo, steak, shrimp & chicken. It was a HUGE meal! I ended up taking over half of it home. Every bite was delicious (and spicy!). The Cajun Sampler:
Michael and his brother Nicholas both ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and said it was great, I can verify this because I tried it. It was soooo good that it almost made me regret ordering the sampler. Glad I had the best of both worlds and Michael shared a few bites with me! Chilean Sea Bass:
My sister-in-law Jessica ordered the Chicken Filet with potatoes & green beans, again, huge portions!
Knotty Pine on the Bayou is located at 6302 Licking Pike in Cold Spring , KY See their website for hours, directions & their menu. Also check them out on Facebook to keep up with deals, specials and events. Knotty Pine does seem to get crowded, especially on the weekends, so I’d suggest making reservations.
