Every so often we have some sort of fruit fly EXPLOSION at our house…it’s crazy. We’ll see one or two fruit flies one day and then the very next day…BAM, they are everywhere! One way to get rid of the pesky flies is to get pest control in, like Terminix Florida, as nobody wants flies sharing the home with them. We’ve tried several methods for getting rid of the fruit flies, but have settled on one sure-fire fruit fly trap. And it’s simple to make and potentially free if you have all the supplies at your house as we did.
Here’s How to Make a Fruit Fly Trap ::
First and foremost, look through your kitchen for any “offensive” fruit that might be attracting the fruit flies. Today I found a squash that had juices seeping from it and a rotten apple.
Then find yourself a piece of paper, a tall glass (Pilsner glasses work great), and a bit of apple cider vinegar. Make a funnel with the piece of paper (or find someone who can…I stink at this part). Pour about 1/4 or 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar into the glass, then place the paper funnel in the top. Tape the paper to the glass. Set the trap wherever the flies are most rampant. They will get trapped in the glass. It’s not the most humane way to rid yourself of them, but it’s not like they are a bug you can pick up and take outside back to nature. These things multiply fast and are annoying!
And I should say, we also have an electric fly swatter, that helps in cutting down the numbers too!
