Lexington Mini-Vacation :: In January of 2015 we took the kids to Lexington, KY for a long weekend. We spent two nights and three days exploring Lexington. We crammed as much fun as we could into those three days with activities for both the kids and the parents. Lexington is a perfect place for my family to escape to for a long weekend or even just a day trip because it’s just over an hour away from where we live. We had such fun on our trip, and the kids are already asking when we’ll be going again. I’m going to share our adventures with you in a series of installments so you can see pictures from our excursions and maybe find some inspiration for planning your own getaway to Lexington!
Embassy Suites of Lexington ::
When we visited Lexington for our mini-vacation we stayed at the Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike. Finding a traditional hotel room for my family is pretty much impossible because I’m pretty sure fire codes frown upon six people in one room. For our past few trips we’ve taken we’ve upgraded to suites for our hotel stays, and I find myself drawn back to Embassy Suites when planning trips. Each time we’ve stayed in an Embassy Suites location we’ve been very impressed, and the Lexington location did not disappoint. From the gorgeous lobby to the immaculate suites, the Newtown Pike Embassy Suites is perfectly appointed. Our suite was spotless and gave us enough room to spread out and make ourselves very comfortable. The staff at the Embassy Suites goes out of their way to make sure that you are having a great stay at their hotel, they take great care of their guests.
The Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike is just a few minutes away from downtown Lexington and New Circle Road which connects just about everything in Lexington, so we were never very far away from fun. The hotel has a gym and a pool, which was Henry’s big request – that we get to swim on his birthday while we were there. My favorite perk of staying in an Embassy Suites hotel though is the complimentary Happy Hour each evening and the complimentary breakfast buffet in the mornings. At this Embassy Suites location they didn’t just offer cocktails at Happy Hour, they also had a nice little snack buffet for guests to enjoy. And the breakfast buffet is top notch! There’s a huge selection of foods to choose from, like french toast sticks, eggs, bacon, toast, fruit, dry cereal, yogurt, and MORE! Or…you can get a “cooked to order” meal which included waffles, omelets and other great stuff. Having a complimentary breakfast is such a huge money saver when you are traveling with your family. My kids LOVED it!
Our family had such a wonderful weekend in Lexington, and when we left the city the kids were already talking about the “next time” we get to go. And you can be sure that the next time we go we will look no further than Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike for accommodations…it’s a fantastic place to stay!

Henry was just over the moon during our stay at Embassy Suites. It was his birthday weekend and he lived like a king…visits to the pool, cable TV in the bedroom with constant cartoons and his favorite part…the breakfast buffet. He asked if we could just live there forever:

Aside from the main lobby, which had a lot of sitting areas, there were other sitting areas through the hotel, and I loved the horse country theme that the hotel used when decorating.
