Lunch at Senate in Over the Rhine

One of my favorite restaurants in Over the Rhine is Senate, home of unique gourmet hot dog creations that will wow you and the best fries in town. And then there’s the impressive craft beer list, which includes many local brews in addition to all of the other specialty cocktails and wines they offer. Recently when I had lunch at Senate I went ahead and snapped pictures of our meal…just to get your mouth watering. Usually I’m so excited about my meal that I forget to take pictures to share. If you haven’t tried Senate yet I highly recommend it. Don’t let the idea of trying one of their award winning gourmet dog concoctions dissuade you from trying it out. If hot dogs piled high with amazing ingredients are not your thing they have other items on the menu that might pique your interest. Their Lobster BLT and Senate Burger are pretty popular menu items. They also have appetizers, salad and soup….or you could skip straight to dessert and treat yourself to a bag full of warm pretzel beignets & caramel mascarpone…soooooo tasty! You really can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. I myself have loved everything I’ve tried there, and I’ve yet to hear any negative feedback about their food. It’s top-notch creative dining!

Henry is a HUGE fan of the mussels at Senate! I made them at home once, and he snubbed them because they weren’t like the kind Aunt Tessy gave him at Senate.

Start your meal with fries…you won’t be sorry! Whether you try the Duck Fat Fries, the Truffle Fries or the Poutine (fries covered with braised short ribs, cheese curds & gravy) you can’t go wrong!
