My kids and I have a very special tradition of picking strawberries with my Grandmother at the beginning of each summer. We started this adventure a few years back and it’s not only a memorable tradition, but a tasty one as well because of the bounty we come home with. This year we traveled to Dry Ridge to pick strawberries at the Red Barn Farm and we braved the super hot temperatures to come home with thirty quarts of berries! My ninety year old grandma made jar after jar of her scrumptious strawberry preserves while we made strawberry muffins, a strawberries and cream butter cake, strawberry shortcake and a little bit of strawberry moonshine. Needless to say it was a SWEET week!
What kind of special traditions do you hold dear? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
