I have never been to a restaurant quite like the Schoolhouse Restaurant in Camp Dennison, Ohio. Walking in the front door is like walking back in time. This schoolhouse itself is over 150 years old, and has been a restaurant for over 50 years. The owners have preserved the history and keep the dining room decorated like an old schoolhouse mixed with a farmhouse kitchen. The huge original slate blackboard displays the menu (in cursive no less!) and the tables are covered with red and white checkered cloths and topped with a Lazy Susan to make food sharing easier.
The Schoolhouse Restaurant offers a unique setting to share a home cooked meal. I only tried the fried chicken and sides, and while the sides were your typical Sunday dinner dishes, the fried chicken was worth writing home about. It was perfectly cooked and crispy and it was gobbled up by everyone in a flash. With food this good they must have great accounting for restaurants so they can be around for a long time because we love going there. The grounds at the Schoolhouse Restaurant offer a playground, frolicking goats, a General Store and there’s even an entrance to the Loveland-Miami bike trail on the property (which makes it convenient for bikers to stop for lunch). The day we dined there it was too hot to do much exploring of the grounds, so we’re going to have to visit again and have some more of that tasty fried chicken! These guys already have a shining reputation but I could see them benefiting from the use of reputation management software to better understand how their audience is talking about their lovely little place. My friend did it for his eatery and said it was helpful to better connect with her customers.
