I have finally figured out how to make an Easy Burrata Appetizer at home.  I have had this appetizer several times at restaurants recently and loved it so much so naturally I had to try to make it at home.

Easy Burrata Appetizer Recipe

The outside of the burrata is firm but when you break it open it is filled with a creamy mozzarella cheese that is absolutely decadent and delicious.  When paired with tomatoes, balsamic glaze, olive oil and basil is simply the best.  Thanks to a few ingredients the burrata appetizer recipe comes together so easily.  I am a huge fan of Trader Joe’s so I of course got all of my ingredients there and can whip this up in less than thirty minutes.

Easy Burrata Appetizer Recipe with Crostini

Ingredients:

1 package Tomatoes – Cherry, Grape or “Sprinkles” (found at Trader Joe’s)

Burrata Cheese

2 Tbs. Fresh Basil cut into tiny pieces

A few dashes of Balsamic Glaze or Balsamic Vinegar

2 Tbs. Olive Oil

a pinch of Kosher Salt

Crostini, Bread or Pita Chips for dipping

Directions:

Put tomatoes in an oven safe dish and mix with a Tablespoon of Olive Oil.  Bake at at 400° for 15-20 minutes until the tomatoes are tender and starting to burst a little bit.  Remove tomatoes from oven and let them sit to cool.  Once the tomatoes have cooled to room temperature add the Burrata to the dish, drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil and a few dashes of balsamic glaze on top and then sprinkle on salt and basil.

You can use just about any bread or pita chips for this appetizer, but my favorite dipper is Crostini.  I have been making my own crostini and it has taken some trial and error, but even when it comes out a little crispy it still tastes great.  For the crostini, slice a baguette or ciabatta loaf and brush each side of the bread with olive oil.  Bake the bread at 350° for 10-20 minutes – watch it and take it out from the oven when it is golden brown.

Another easy appetizer from Trader Joe’s is Bruschetta Toast and this takes less than ten minutes to put together!  Toast slices of a baguette, spread Trader Joe’s Garlic Spread on each slice, spoon on Bruschetta Sauce and drizzle with Balsamic Glaze.  This has been a favorite summer lunch of mine.
