I have to say that I am really happy with all of the new and interesting restaurants popping up in Covington. House of Grill on Fifth Street is one of the latest restaurants to open up and their specialty is Persian Cuisine. I’ve never been to a Persian restaurant, so my curiosity was piqued, especially after following the restaurant on Facebook and seeing pictures of their menu items.
The menu at House of Grill isn’t huge, but still they have an interesting variety of items to choose from. They offer soups, salads, breakfast items, wraps, kebabs and more. I had the Lori Kebab Plate for lunch today, which included Saffron marinated beef and chicken along with rice, a grilled tomato and salad. It was a feast! The boys and dad had breakfast items, and I’ll admit that I snuck several bites of French Toast from them because it was soooo good. I’m already planning to head back for breakfast soon because I feel I need to try their Nutella French Toast Roll.
The owner of House of Grill was such a nice guy, he treated everyone who came in to dine like we were family coming to his home for a meal. You can tell that he has great pride in his restaurant and the food he is serving. He did warn me when we ordered that our food would take a a little bit to prepare because it’s all made to order, plus they are still in the process of hiring employees since they are newly opened. We didn’t mind a little wait…after all, if you want a good fresh meal you sometimes have to wait a few minutes. We chatted and sipped our complimentary Persian Hot Tea and when our food arrived we enjoyed every single bite. The prices at House of Grill are very reasonable and drinks are included free with the purchase of a meal. They also offer catering and carry out. If you are in Covington you really must stop by House of Grill for a unique Persian dining experience.
