Spring Break 2016: We spent a long weekend travelling to three different cities in Ohio finding unique & interesting places to explore and visit. We stayed in some awesome hotels, ate some great food and saw so many cool things! I’ll share our trip with you in a series of installments in the coming weeks to help inspire your own Ohio Road Trip!
Fun for Everyone at the Great Wolf Lodge:
We spent two nights at the Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, Ohio over Spring Break. Despite living near a Great Wolf Lodge location in Greater Cincinnati, this was our family’s first visit to a Great Wolf Lodge, and we had an excellent time! The Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky is more than just a hotel with an indoor water park. They have all sorts of fun things to do and see under one roof. We spent the majority of our time splashing around and going down slides, but we had many other chances for fun outside of the water as well. There’s an arcade, MagiQuest adventures, a Kid’s Spa, crafts, storytimes and much more. Our room was so spacious and comfy that I really could have just sat in there and enjoyed some quiet time reading for the two days, but we were there for adventure, not for quiet time. I should also mention that the staff at the Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky were TOP NOTCH. Everyone was so kind and ready to help with anything at all. Enjoy the pictures from our visit and then plan your own trip to Great Wolf Lodge with your family!
Our Room: We had a Family Suite with a Fireplace, that boasted a microwave, fridge, living area, two beds and a balcony…plenty of room for six people(and all their STUFF) to spread out!
The Indoor Water Park: When I booked this trip I thought that the water park at Great Wolf Lodge was just going to be fun for the kids, but it ended up being fun for ALL ages. Michael and I both acted like big kids and joined in the fun while playing at the water park. There’s a lazy river, slides of all sizes, places to climb, water basketball, and a bucket of water that pours down upon the floor every so often. We all had so much fun!
The Lobby: Being in the lobby of the Great Wolf Lodge is a bit like being in the living room of a cabin in the woods (albeit a GIANT cabin). I say it’s like a living room because that was where families would go to sit and relax or take their kids to Storytime or just to hang out. It was a fun room and it was always hopping while we were there!
Gitchigoomie Grill: If you are hungry at Great Wolf Lodge you have several dining options to choose from. We opted for a date night dinner at the Gitchigoomie Grill while the kids scampered around the hotel on their MagiQuest. The food was tasty and the service was great. I was sorry/not sorry for taking the kids. I’m sure they would have loved the food, but we had leftovers from the previous night’s dinner to get rid of before moving along to our next stop and I was ready for a date night. Plus they loved working on their MagiQuest while we ate, and the restaurant has many windows so you can keep an eye on them.
MagiQuest: I’m not going to pretend to fully understand the MagiQuest adventures, but I can tell you this…the kids LOVED it! I didn’t spend enough time learning about it, because I was enjoying the peace and quiet while they went on their quests. The kids took the MagiQuest wand and traveled around the hotel going on quests, and they thought it was awesome. Next time we stay at a Great Wolf Lodge I’ll spend more time going on MagiQuest adventures with the kids!
