We had the opportunity to attend Broadway on Cincinnati’s latest show at the Aronoff on Opening Night this week…Pippin! I’ve been to Broadway shows in London, New York, and countless shows right here in Cincinnati, and Pippin was a show like no other. We all know that in order for performers to be cast for roles on Broadway they need to know how to act, sing and dance. Well, the performers in Pippin all had to go one step further and have some acrobatic skills as well. Between the poignant songs and fabulous dancing there were acrobatic antics of all sorts.
The performers in Pippin were all pretty awesome, and the storyline is quite interesting. I will say that this production is not for young children, as there is some language and risque scenes. Pippin would make for a perfect date night or ladies night out! It ends Sunday so get your tickets NOW!
All About Pippin:
Pippin is a high-flying, death-defying hit Broadway musical! Full of extraordinary acrobatics, wondrous magical feats and soaring songs from the composer of Wicked, Pippin will lift you up and leave you smiling. This unforgettable new production is the winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival. Hailed as “an eye-popping, jaw-dropping extravaganza” (NY1), it’s unlike anything you have ever seen! Come experience Pippin, one young man’s journey to be extraordinary.
Following its acclaimed run at Boston’s American Repertory Theater, this captivating new production comes straight from Broadway, directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus (Hair and The Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess). It features sizzling choreography in the style of Bob Fosse and breathtaking acrobatics by Les 7 Doigts de la Main, the creative force behind the nationwide sensation Traces. Pippin is noted for many Broadway standards including “Corner of the Sky,” “Magic To Do,” “Glory,” “No Time at All,” “Morning Glow,” and “Love Song.” Join us… for a magical, unforgettable new Pippin.
Pippin will be at the Aronoff Center for the Arts through October 18th. Visit the Broadway in Cincinnati website to find out more information and order your tickets.
