Before we took our trip to Florida I asked around for recommendations for dining and activities for our family. When I asked people where we should have lunch in St. Petersburg the most frequent answer I got was to go to Locale Market. I had no idea what to expect from Locale Market, but since it was so highly recommended I figured we could not go wrong in stopping by there for lunch. The reviews were right, Locale was a perfect place for us to stop for lunch.
On the first floor Locale Market is a hybrid of an upscale grocery store and a cafeteria like no other. You can go their to shop, or if you are looking for a meal like we were you can go to different stations to grab prepared meals. They offered fresh (local!) seafood, deli sandwiches, burgers, sushi and much more. It’s really too much to list! They also have a cooler full of local beers that you can grab just one to go with your meal. And don’t even get me started on the desserts…there were too many to choose from! The owners of Locale Market strive to provide only high quality products and foods, many of which are locally sourced. While the options for lunch at the Market were very appealing I knew that reaching a consensus between the six of us would be impossible and I didn’t want to hop back and forth between six different counters. We opted instead for the FarmTable Kitchen restaurant.
While dining downstairs at Locale Market is more of a cafeteria experience the second floor of Locale Market houses the FarmTable Kitchen, which is a restaurant with a gourmet seasonal menu offering fresh foods from the market downstairs. All of their menu items are brought to you from farms and the nearby Gulf. We were really impressed with the meal we had there, and with their selection of local craft beers. I could have eaten there several more times during our trip I liked it so much. Unfortunately we were on the last day in that area. After our big lunch we went back downstairs to the Market and grabbed dessert and a couple adult beverages and sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful day.

Florida Vacation 2015: For our Summer Vacation this year we spent ten days in Florida, exploring the Tampa Bay and Gulf area with our family. There was an unusual amount of rain while we were there, but fortunately for us there’s plenty of fun to be had indoors. We spent quite a bit of our trip exploring museums, an aquarium, breweries, restaurants and more! I’ll be sharing our Florida vacation adventures in a series of posts in the hopes that they will inspire you to plan a trip to Florida for your family! Many thanks to my friends at the St. Pete’s & Clearwater Visitor’s Bureau for helping me plan this trip. So many memories were created while we were there!
