After an early morning soccer game recently my dad and I decided to grab a bite to eat for breakfast. He suggested Covington’s newest coffee shop, The Covington Coffee Company. He promised me homemade pastries and coffee, which I could not resist. There’s nothing that beats Fresh Coffee in the morning, particularly after a morning of watching soccer. I’m part of a group of people that can’t function until I’ve had my morning cup. I’m used to drinking my Coffee on the Go, so to sit in and enjoy it was a nice change of pace. What we did not realize until we arrived is that on the weekends it is not just about the pastries, but they also serve waffles. Not just any waffles either…they were probably one of the best waffles I have ever had. They have plain waffles, waffles covered with berries and even waffles with buffalo chicken on top! Henry was in blueberry heaven with his waffle, and I stuck to the plain waffle but I’ll be going back soon for that buffalo chicken waffle. The Covington Coffee Company also carries bagels from Lil’s Bagels – they are also delicious, trust me.
Situated on 12th street, just a hop, skip and a jump away from the expressway, the Covington Coffee Company is a prime spot to stop and get a cup of coffee on your way to work, or to sit and sip a cup of joe in their cozy dining room that seems more like someone’s living room filled with tables and chairs. And out back there are picnic tables for sitting and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows when the weather turns cool. I’ve even heard there will be live music in the back yard in the near future. If you haven’t been to this cool little coffee shop yet you should check it out.
