Broadway in Cincinnati has brought a classic from the nineties back to the stage at the Aronoff.  Rent is in town for the holidays and you will want to grab those tickets now for this 20th anniversary tour.

We saw the show on opening night and it was like a blast from the past.  The storyline was compelling, intense, heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once.  I have not seen this show before, and did not know much about it, but I surprised myself by recognizing several of the songs and being able to sing along (in my head of course).

Tickets to RENT would be a nice surprise for someone special this holiday season!

Broadway In Cincinnati Presents RENT

RENT 20th ANNIVERSARY TOUR COMING TO CINCINNATI
DECEMBER 11 – 23, 2018

In 1996, an original rock musical by a little-known composer opened on Broadway… and forever changed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, Jonathan Larson’s RENT continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations and all over the world. And now, this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award®-winning masterpiece returns to the stage in a vibrant 20th anniversary touring production. A re-imagining of Puccini’s La Bohème, RENT follows an unforgettable year in the lives of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams without selling out. With its inspiring message of joy and hope in the face of fear, this timeless celebration of friendship and creativity reminds us to measure our lives with the only thing that truly matters—love.

The show received its world premiere off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop on February 13, 1996 to ecstatic reviews and transferred to Broadway on April 29, 1996. RENT is winner of the 1996 Tony Award for Best Musical as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It is one of only five musicals to win both awards.

Based on the original direction by Michael Greif (Tony and Drama Desk Nominations, RENT), Evan Ensign will restage this 20th anniversary tour. Marlies Yearby (Tony Nomination, RENT) will serve as choreographer.

RENT will play the Aronoff Center from December 11 – 23, 2018: Tuesdays – Thursdays at 7:30PM, Fridays at 8:00PM, Saturdays at 2:00PM and 8:00PM and Sundays at 1:00PM and 6:30PM. Tickets start at $31 and are available at the Aronoff Center Box Office downtown at 650 Walnut Street, online at CincinnatiArts.org or by phone at 513.621.ARTS. For groups of 10 or more, contact the group sales department at 513.369.4363. Performance schedule, prices and cast are subject to change without notice.
