More Details about the Park Hills MKT & Garden Tour:
Park Hills MKT & Garden Tour invites tri-state to 2nd annual festival June 22-23
Hop-on Hop-off trolley tour to feature 9.5 acre estate and 1944 Victory Garden
History is blooming in Park Hills, KY. Here you will find a 9.5 acre estate dating back to 1922 which was the homestead of one of the original developers of Park Hills, D. Collins Lee. Now owned and curated by Dr. Sigmund Sugarman, this European-inspired work of art boasts pathways connecting meandering tree-lined sculpture gardens, culminating in a view of the Cincinnati skyline.
Park Hills is also home to a rare Victory Garden tended by Mrs. Carol Ann Whitehead, whose family has cultivated this plot of land since 1944, during World War II. She continues to harvest and can her produce, while adding modern technology such as a solar-powered deer proofing fence.
These are just two of the 12 private gardens that will be connected by a hop-on/hop-off trolley at the 2019 Park Hills MKT & Garden Tour on June 22 and June 23 from noon-6 pm (rain or shine). Tickets ($12.50 presale/$15 on-site, free to kids under 12) give visitors access to all gardens both days, as well as mini-workshops on topics such as deer proofing, raising honey bees, conserving butterflies, and more.
At Trolley Park (corner of Amsterdam Road & Park Drive, Park Hills) visitors will find food trucks, beer and bourbon, an artisan & farmer’s market, an Ask-the Expert Tent, and free kids’ activities (face painting, seed planting and real-life fairies). Tickets and maps for admittance to the gardens & workshops will be for sale in the park; the ticket station will also have a list of homes for sale in Park Hills that will be open during tour hours.
Free parking and shuttle service for the event are available at Notre Dame Academy (1699 Hilton Drive, Park Hills). For event information, pre-sale tickets, and volunteer sign-ups, please go to www.ParkHillsGardenTour.com
