EDIT 1.23.2020 ~ QUICK REVIEW of Cirque du Soleil AXEL
Tonight we saw the second ever ice show from Cirque du Soleil, AXEL. And like every Cirque show before this, we were BLOWN AWAY. How is it that this company keeps creating the most stellar of productions?!?!
If you have never seen a Cirque du Soleil show, this would be a great start for you. And then you will be hooked. We were floundering trying to explain Cirque shows to my daughter’s friend tonight, and I think we settled on “just wait and see!”. It is hard to put into words the magic of a Cirque du Soleil show, and now that they have added the element of the ice skating it puts a whole new spin on things.
AXEL was fantastic from start to finish, with unbelievable performances. The music! The skating! The action! The acrobatics! The fire! The lights! The comedy! The puppy! The dancing! The areal feats! The antics! The intrigue!

Cirque du Soleil is skating back to Cincinnati in January with their newest show, AXEL. If AXEL is like any of it’s Cirque sibling shows it will be a stunning spectacle to behold. I have yet to see the show but I have read some rave reviews and I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see it in person!
I have yet to see a Cirque du Soleil performance that I did not fall in love with. Each show is so unique and full of wonder. The creativity and innovation that goes into developing and putting the shows together is always evident. The performers always put their whole heart into bringing their characters to life and do amazing acts of acrobatics, skating and entertaining.

An inspirational and musical storyline
Axel, a young graphic artist and musician, dives into his hand-drawn universe as he falls in love with the captivating Lei. Together they jet off on a fast-moving quest to retrieve the stolen light from the supervillain Vï. In this epic fantasy, graphic art and music intertwine to create the super-charged world of AXEL. Spectacular ice skating, breath-taking acrobatics, pop-rock music and vibrant visuals create an energetic and immersive experience for the whole family.
