My favorite fabric shop in the whole wide world is St. Theresa’s Textile Trove in Over the Rhine. I have been shopping at this shop for funky fabrics ever since I first started quilting. And back in those days I was piecing my quilts by hand. These days sewing time is diminished greatly but I always have a project cut and ready to go if I ever find myself with a few minutes to spare. St. Theresa’s Textile Trove has moved from location to location over the years and I’ve followed right along. For the past several years the Pendleton Art Center has been home to St. Theresa’s Textile Trove. The small shop is jam packed from wall to wall, from floor to ceiling with fabrics, buttons, beads and more. And the shop doesn’t just offer supplies for making awesome projects, but the walls are also decorated with some incredibly cool creations to help inspire your next masterpiece.
For our Halloween costumes this year we decided to go with a “Day of the Dead” theme and create sugar skull costumes. Initially we had planned to paint faces, but I wasn’t digging the idea of painting my face. When I heard about the Sugar Skull party at St. Theresa’s Textile Trove I new it would be the perfect way for us to complete our costumes! We spent an entire afternoon creating some really cool sugar skull masks while hanging out with cool people. In the end half of us ended up wearing our masks on Halloween and the other half stuck with the face paint. We put our outfits together with costumes and outfits we already had at home. Ella even had a Sugar Skull Skirt that I made using fabric I bought at the Trove years ago. We were certainly a wild sight to see!

This trunk is my favorite part of the store, it is indeed my happy place! This trunk is overflowing with fat quarters of fabric all rolled up and ready to go. These fat quarters are perfect for cutting pieces for a patchwork quilt. I have found so many gems in this trunk for the quilts I’ve worked on over the years.

The best time to visit is on the Final Friday and First Saturday of the month, as all of the artists in the building are open for business at that time and it’s more like a party than a shopping experience!
