Celebrates 30th Anniversary with a Global Flair
This ultimate wine weekend features 700 wines from 200 wineries all in support of 35 local charities, March 12-14. Events include winery dinners, education sessions, grand tastings and more.
The Cincinnati International Wine Festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary year of giving back one glass at a time with new features honoring its international roots. Since 1991, the wine festival has attracted hundreds of wineries from around the world to Cincinnati for its annual celebration of wine benefiting dozens of local charities.
For both wine connoisseurs and newcomers alike, this ultimate weekend of wine has something for everyone. The 2020 festival, set for March 12-14, has options for every style, palate and preference. The weekend-long celebration consists of grand tastings, gourmet dining, education sessions, a NEW collectors tasting room, a charity auction and luncheon, silent auction and more. One of the largest of its kind in the country, the popular, non-profit festival features more than 700 wines from more than 200 wineries. More than 5,000 people attended last year’s events, and even more are expected for this 30th anniversary year.
The festival kicks off with winery dinners the evening of Thursday, March 12, where guests will simultaneously enjoy the best of fine wines and fine dining at more than a dozen of Cincinnati’s most prestigious restaurants. One price covers each five-course dining experience offering one-of-a-kind menus crafted alongside carefully chosen wine pairings presented exclusively by each restaurant’s winery representative.
The festival continues March 13 and 14 at the Duke Energy Convention Center with a variety of wine tasting and education sessions featuring NEW topics such as Sake 101, old world vs. new world and unique global gems. Friday night’s grand tasting experience has been touted as the “best happy hour in town.” At the grand tastings, guests will sample a variety of classic, rare and exotic wines, together with delectable bites provided by dozens of Cincinnati foodie favorites.
Each wine festival ticket purchased directly benefits 35 local charities with programs dedicated to the arts, education, health and human services. The festival has donated more than $6 million to local charities since its inception thanks to the support and patronage of the Greater Cincinnati community.
