XhilaRacing Electric Karting ~ Do you have a mom who likes life in the fast lane?  Check out Northern Kentucky’s new addition, XhilaRacing in Florence for some fun electric go cart action!

New Riff DistilleryBourbon Distillery Tour ~ Does your mother love bourbon?  If so then a bourbon distillery tour might be right up her alley!  And there are numerous distilleries in Kentucky to choose from for a visit.  Or you could even turn it into a weekend event and makes stops at all of the distilleries along the Bourbon Trail.  A few of my favorite distilleries are Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, and New Riff in Newport.  Tours of distilleries are usually free or very cheap to attend, and most end with a bourbon tasting.

A Drive in the Country ~ Take mom on a little road trip for Mother’s day!  The greater Cincinnati area is a great location for folks who like to take long drives in the country or short road trips.  Some of my favorite places to go for a day trip around here are Yellow Springs OH, Augusta KY, General Butler State Park KY, or if you’re willing to drive for a few hours the Red River Gorge would be a perfect place to take a little day trip to for some hiking!  Visit my  “Road Trip” archives for more ideas for short trips.

IMG_2630Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum ~ If your mother likes to be outdoors and is interested in art, then the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park would be an interesting place to spend Mother’s Day.  Pyramid Hill offers a multitude of interesting statues and sculptures, and it’s a great place to walk around and enjoy a beautiful spring day.  For more information about the park and museum visit this post: The Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum.

Spring Grove ChapelTake a Walk in a Cemetery ~ That’s right…I put visiting a cemetery on my list.  There’s just so many great cemeteries around town, and I find them to be a very peaceful place to walk or ride bikes.  Spring Grove Cemetery is my favorite cemetery around town to do a little walking and exploring.  There are some amazing monuments and very old graves in this cemetery.  You can learn so much about Cincinnati’s history at this cemetery.

Backyard BBQ ~ Everyone seems so obsessed with getting reservations to the best restaurants in town for Mother’s Day, how about just having a nice intimate backyard barbecue instead?  I’ve always found that preparing a meal together can be a really fun event in itself!

Pamper Yourselves ~ Treat mom to a day of pampering, whether it be manicures, pedicures, massages or even a whole day at the spa!   If the price of a visit to a spa is daunting then set up your own little spa at home and give your mother a manicure and a facial!
