Buffalo Trace Distillery Tour in Frankfort, KYRecently I went on a tour of the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky with my friend and three of our children.  Buffalo Trace Distillery has been around for more than 200 years, even lasting through Prohibition with special permission to make and sell “medicinal spirits”.  This Distillery is a National Historic Landmark and home to many spirits, not just the award winning Buffalo Trace.  They also create Eagle Rare, Blanton’s, the Van Winkle Collection, Wheatley Vodka, Sazerac Rye and more.  So many great spirits come from this distillery!   We had a fantastic tour guide for our visit who taught us so much about the history and process of distilling at Buffalo Trace.  Buffalo Trace offers five different tours, which are all free, and end with a tasting of their namesake bourbon and a sample of a bourbon ball.  The tours are family friendly, and we were lucky enough to get a guide who really tailored the tour so that the boys had fun too.  If you are a fan of bourbon or of Kentucky history I’d highly recommend a road trip to Frankfort to tour the Buffalo Trace Distillery.  Visit the Buffalo Trace Distillery website for more details to help you plan your visit.
